LAFE'S ORGANIC BABY LINE

What I like about this company's philosophy is that its founder, Lafe Larson passionately supports people wanting products they can truly trust to be natural and genuinely good for them. He has a fascinating background having begun his career as an advocate for social change - from equal housing to voting rights before venturing into natural beauty products. The company also gives back to the community by donating 1% of their company profits to breast cancer awareness and prevention. A cause that touches many women and families.

Like Empowered Mommies, Lafe believes that most of us seek a sense of self empowerment that comes from taking charge of our lives, our bodies and our health and the company's sees its mission as educating consumers about healthy alternatives to conventional synthetic, chemical-based products. Lafe uses natural and organic, paraben and PG-free ingredients and as such offers a wide array of family and baby products including a complete Organic Baby Line (Baby Oil, Foaming Shampoo/Wash, Insect Repellant and Baby Lotion).

The first product I was able to sample was the Baby Oil. My little one really enjoyed having it rubbed on her belly and legs especially after a warm bath. Its ingredients include sunflower seed oil, olive oil, hemp seed oil (cold pressed). It has no artificial ingredients and is fragrance free and hypoallergenic. Her skin was notably smooth and glowing after each application.

I also tried the Insect Repellant while playing outdoors this past weekend. I'm always thinking about the ingredients of the conventional bug sprays and if they're capable of repelling insects, how good could they be for my baby's and toddlers skins especially if they lick their hands/arms? The chemical-smell of the conventional sprays is also alarming. So this product was reassuring because it is a special blend of certified organic botanical oils (cedarwood, eucalyptus, lemon, lavender, and geranium) that is both chemical and DEET free.

The Foaming Shampoo/Wash was fun to use too. Its ingredients are: saponified oils of coconut, sunflower seed, olive and palm. You just have to be careful not to get any into your baby's eyes because unlike conventional shampoos, it doesn't contain the chemical anaesthesizer that prevents tears. Her hair felt clean and tangle free and it easily doubled as a body wash too.

I then finished off her bath with the Baby Lotion which is a combination of aloe vera leaf juice, sunflower seed oil, virgin olive oil, coconut oil, hemp seed oil, silk protein and wheat starch. All the ingredients sound good enough to eat! My baby's skin was very soft and I also used it on my two toddlers and they enjoyed the pampering too.

All Lafe’s Organic Baby Products are Certified Estrogenic Activity Free Plastic which means they have no BPA (the controversial chemical that has been linked to endocrine and other developmental issues), phthalates or harmful chemicals. Most plastic bottles leak estrogens that may be harmful to infants and children. Lafe’s uses only certified baby-safe plastic and is free of parabens, propylene glycol, pesticides and SLS.
