MOBY WRAP BABY CARRIER (By Moby Wrap Inc)

Moby® Wrap, Inc. was created by two moms that were looking for the ideal baby carrier. After doing alot of research and trying many carriers, they agreed on a variation of a classic European-style carrier.
As you can see from the photo, I tried it with my 10 month old and was pleasantly surprised at the comfort, versatility and security of the wrap. To be honest, I am not the most savvy person when it comes to folding/wrapping and the 5.5 meter long fabric can sound daunting, but the wrap was very easy to use! (even for me ;)
The package comes with a great instructional booklet on all the different positions (newborn hug, cradle, breastfeeding, hug, lotus, twin hug, twin cradle, hip, hike hold, kangaroo hold, kangaroo care) that you can put your baby in. And it features sound recommendations for security, exercise and breastfeeding. I really liked the booklet because it also discussed the right time to introduce each position depending on the age and development of the baby (ie: head control, etc) and gave warnings as to what not to do which is especially important for first time users. It also covered other interesting topics such as mom nutrition, yoga, and baby massage techniques.
The Moby® Wrap website also does a great job of illustrating the positions in their Instructions section which includes a video demonstration, tips and recommendations on tying and folding the wrap and downloadble step by step instructions.
This wrap is very highly rated and recommended by lactation consultants, pediatricians and chiropractors. And that is not surprising because it's quite ergonomic in its design and very breastfeeding friendly. It feels very soft and is made of 100% cotton that is breathable and easy to wash and care for. Moby Wrap Inc offers a wide array of colors and prints and is very affordable retailing at $39.95 (basic) to $44.95 (Moby® Wrap with UV protection) $49.95 (Moby Prints) and up to $59.95 (Moby Organic). You can use it for babies up to 35 lbs and with my 10 month being only 20 lbs, I have many more months to enjoy it with her.
One thing to keep in mind is that you should be careful when bending over. You should squat instead and the wrap is not suitable for strenuous physical activity like running around or chasing after other toddlers. This carrier is more of a relaxed carrier to be used lightly around the house when doing light chores or when you're out and about at the store or playgroup. Not when you're doing a serious hike or running.
I am starting to learn more and more about carriers and it seems there are different ones for different occassions. The Moby® Wrap seems uniquely created to serve as a second skin to mom and enable a strong skin-to-skin bonding experience with your baby that you'll cherish for years to come.
