TRIM TREADS - Fitness Sandals
Originally designed by an Obgyn to improve circulation in her patients, Trim Treads have been found to do more than that and their health benefits include improving posture, building lean muscle, burning calories, and decreasing lower back pain.
So I thought I would try a pair out. At first, I was very pleasantly surprised how light yet durable they were. I wore them while doing chores around the house, going to get the mail, folding laundry and other everyday home activities. Given the chunky platform on the front, I quickly realized that it's not a good idea to try to run after three small children with them (and 6 months pregnant) but they worked wonders for leg lunges and stretches and mini-exercises. My favorite was extending my foot up and down. I could feel my calves been stretched and worked out. It felt great!
The way they work is that the motion when walking in them is similar to that of balancing in combination with using a Stairmaster. As you balance, you can focus on different muscles that are not normally used when wearing normal shoes. Wearing them only for a half an hour a day can make a huge difference.
The Trim Treads website offers some great information on different exercises to do while walking and standing including the heel and toe lifts I mentioned earlier. Their only recommendation is that you don't drive in them or walk or run on slippery surfaces. In my case, not run too fast with a bulging belly ;) He He. They are really affordable at only $39.99 and come in a wide array of colors. If you prefer a winter-style shoe, it does come in the form of a mini boot and they also have a clog-style version in black. They are made with 100% vegan materials and they are unisex so be sure to choose a size smaller than what you wear normally.
I'm excited to keep wearing until I get too big and then picking them up again after my baby arrives so I can get back in shape quickly. They are a great options for busy moms! Definitely check them out.
